if he had a hammer...

big improvement in Boris' attitude with bones. he actually got one and didn't go feral on me, he was a bit guardy at first, but was ignored and told to shut up when he growled and he actually calmed down pretty quickly. In fact was actually allowed to have it in the house after his first excitement wore off while chewing it in his crate.

but, he did surprise me with something he did. when the bones were a day old or so, and still had marrow inside, Hilda just licked and sort of sucked on hers. But Boris took his bone to the hard brick floor and literally threw it down, then checked the ends to see if any marrow had dislodged. he did this several times, harder each time. he finally broke the bone and gobbled the marrow up.

I was at the computer and I heard this banging. I peeked out and watched him. it was really strange the way he would check the end, then throw the bone on the floor with all his force. not tossing it like playing, but like you would throw a rock on something hard to break it. I think if he had opposing digits.....

Yeah, I stopped giving Nisha bones inside because she made such a mess with them. Every time she would "drop" them, the pieces would end up everywhere!

When I gave our two girls beef marrow bones, they'd sometimes bring me their bones so I could use a chopstick to push out the marrow plugs they couldn't reach.

that is when Boris' attitude about bones seemed to get better. when I got a knife and scooped some out for him. he decided me holding his bone was a good thing!

Mine too! I use a barbeque skewer.
