sometimes acts scared

I have a question, first off Cash has a good temperment he loves for everyone to pet him, even strangers that come to the house he doesnt care as long as somebody pets him
Sometimes when My husband calls him over he acts shy around him, and we are trying to figure out why he does this.. he has never yelled at him or even yelled period when he has been around.

I feel bad for him sometimes (cash not dh) when I put him in his crate, he acts so sad like he is in trouble when he has never done anything wrong, he is 9 months old and just as sweet as can be, no matter where you are sitting he wants to be on your lap, its just the few times he does that with his crate and with my husband.

I work with him daily on his sits and stays and his down and stays, when he is released from a stay I tell him to come, he does, everytime, and there are sometimes where again he acts shy like he is in trouble

I dont yell at the dogs, I dont hit my dogs, I raise my voice if they are wrestling too much and wont stop until I raise my voice slighty with an ahh ahh sound..
Also he hasnt always acted this way its something that started about a month ago, could it just be his age?

Perhaps you don't incorporate enough play into training. Learn some training games for both your husband and you to use and keep his training up, up, up and fun, fun, fun! If you're already doing that, then make it more up and more fun than it already is.

Re: sometimes acts scared

Your signature line indicates cash is 7.5 months old? He's young yet. I'm with Moondog. Incorporate more play. Training should be more enjoyable than stressful. Lots of praise, animated "good boy's!" and a good ear skritch after a training session should help him gain confidence.

Try some things that challenge his mind, too. Sit's, stay's, and down's are boring. Try placing a ladder on the ground (dowels, yardsticks, sticks) and have him walk over it. He'll have to focus on foot placement. Place a board an a brick and have him touch the higher end with his foot. Praise and treat each touch. Advance to both feet. Then have him get on the high end and walk the plank.

Eventually, you can have him get on either end first. The reason I do the high end first is that sound is louder. It helps desensitize the bump and sound when you switch to the other end.

Letting him figure something out is a confidence builder, and fun! Try fetch and monkey in the middle.

In addition, he's at the age where he'll likely be going in and out of fear periods. He sounds handler soft, so I concur with the fun fun game, especially if a LOT of OB has been done with him at a young age.

Re: sometimes acts scared

he was 7.5 months when he got his cgc he turned 9 months april 10, I dont do alot of obedience with him, and we all (whole family) play with him alot, he isnt big on fetch, he will go get the ball and thats about it, unless GYpsy wants to play then he will do anything to stop her from getting the ball, I have learned just by taking Gypsy to obedience classes to make it fun, and I do I use real happy voices and oh yeah he loves the ear scratch.. He hasnt been to anymore obedience classes since my trainer moved, so I do it myself at home for short periods. (no hard long boring obedience)

But I will start some new funner things then I have been doing especially since its so nice outside Im outside alot and when Im out so is Cash.. He did however find a new facination.. Bike Tires, thats a no no, I think he is in need for a new tire chewy.. maybe he will play fetch with that..

Thanks alot
