Talking Wrestling making a boo boo

I was downstairs with the dogs, and they were doing their normal wrestling growling fun things they always do, sometimes Cash being younger gets on Gypsys nerves and keeps on when she is done, I notcied she was getting edgy so I said "ok guys come on enough" that usually ends it, Gypsy snarled, Cash like his goofy self wanted to play and I noticed Gypsy kinda swat him with her paw like they do when wrestling, but she wasnt happy she was irratted, so I put her in her kennel and went to put Cash in his, since it was time for their morning nap anyhow, and about 10 seconds after I put Gypsy away I saw Blood all over the floor OMG I was freaking Im like what happened no dog screached or anything, I looked at Cash and between his eye and the end of his nose(against the nose) was pouring blood I thought she bit him, so I applied pressure for a few minutes until it stopped bleeding, I looked at it and its not a puntcure wound its more like from her claw and the tip of her claw at the end where it was bleeding..

Its not swollen or anything, not bleeding anymore, but the shape of a claw.. but there was so much blood I freaked out so bad.. but anyhow the reason for my post is have any of you experienced this? it wasnt a dog fight or anything but I tell ya it looks like it I had to mop the whole basement and wash my stairs going downstairs from blood on my shoes, I called the vet and they said to call if he swells up or drainage, and just keep an eye on him, well he is acting fine and his happy self

I would put some neosporin on the hole. Maybe it is time for a nail clip?

Their noses are very sensitive, I bet she caught him just right and it opened it up, kinda like a paper can do...It probably will turn out to be a good lesson for Cash in that when Gypsy says I'm done, he should respect that. I would wash it good, then put some neosporin on it...He'll be fine.

I just clipped her nails, even when she was spayed and they did her nails in December they were still real long, and with Cash his stay short I have never clipped them, I will put some neosporin on... I just felt so darn bad

Oh man....I bet you were terrified! My only suggestion is to watch for vomiting, in case Cash licked up a bunch of the blood.

Oh I dont think he licked anything, I ran upstairs and grapped the first towel I saw lol it was white, and it was covered and so was the whole basement so I doubt he had any, I washed it out with perioxide and I just now put some neosporin on it no swelling and he didnt act like it was tender to the touch. well the basement floor is all clean now I had to mop it with bleach..

Re: Wrestling making a boo boo

Fozzy got it real good in the nose couple of years ago when her and Greta got into it with a squirrel. The squirrel had a hold of her with one claw on her nose. She bled like crazy, I was so scared--thought her pretty nose would never be the same. But she healed up nicely and can't tell she ever had that squirrel encounter. Didn't stop them from chasing squirrels ;(

Re: Wrestling making a boo boo

Cash's cut isnt on his nose its on the side about 1/2 way from the end of the nose to the corner of his eye, the reason I didnt think it was a bite was because when my American Bulldog got attacked by the neighbors Golden his marks were puncture wounds from a bite, he had 1/2inch one on his shoulder and one on his side, but what Cash has looks just like the shape of a claw.. They were fine a bit ago they ate their dinner next to each other then took turns getting water and were in the yard fine going potty, I think she was just done and he wanted to continue being the little pooper he can be with her

Oops! I misunderstood the area of injury, sorry. Glad they are doing better. Fozzy and Greta get that way some times. They start play/wrestling and Fozzy (she's the elder) is done, but Greta wants to continue-she can be such a stinker.

Re: Wrestling making a boo boo

I see you said you just clipped her nails. Do you use actual clippers or a dremmel? We use a dremmel on Arwen and I actually go back over them a couple times to make sure I round out all the edges because after clipping them and grinding them they have SHARP edges. I didn't realize the edges were sharp till she stepped on my foot and cut me right after I did them one day. On their own they take about 2 days to work the edges off. With the dremmel or a rough nail file it only takes about a minute. Well worth it.
