Pug obsession

Good morning! I am new to the boards and was hoping there was someone who could help me! We recently brought a rescue rottie home, he's a great dog...just one problem...he's totally obsessed with our pug!

I mean totally obsessed...he follows her around, walking over her, around her...he is constantly licking her, kissing her. She can't get away from him unless she's with me. When she's with me he sits and stares at her, panting (and drolling!!). Eventually he barks at her and then she gets all upset and goes after him...I think she thinks he's barking at me and she is very protective of me!

I'm not sure what to do! I've never seen a dog behave like this!

He is fixed, but just recently, within the last week and she is not fixed but not going into heat. She is getting fixed next month.

Ideas / suggestions?

Keep him on a leash and when he's getting obsessive, give a correction and tell him to "leave it" - he's bring rude, and getting too close for comfort. She being intact might be the issue especially if she's going into heat soon. Keep them separated when you can't watch them so yuor rottie doesn't bug your pug!

Are you planning on taking your rottie to training classes? That would help.
