My girl Bessy always makes sure there is some form of body contact with me when she's around me - either she lays down at my feet, or her paw is resting on my leg, or she leans her whole body weight against me when she's sitting down. My heart always melts ![]() Just wondering if anyone else has a Rottie who's as sticky as my girl? |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? I have a super glue rottie as well! When I cook she lays down at my feet, the same when I go to the toilet. No matter how tired she is, when I stand up she always follows me. When I watch TV, she comes and sits on my lap, sometimes I cannot even move and all I can see is her back, but I don't mind, she is sooooo sweet. When we sleep she puts her paw on my shoulder, or rests her back against mine. Absolutely adorable, aren' t they?

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? Both of my Rotties have done this. Always touching, leaning. Buddy will go between my legs and stand there. He always needs to have a paw on my foot when he sits. My past Rottie was the same. They need to be constantly touching, I think it's a reassurance thing although Rommel was especially clingy when I would stop to speak with strangers.

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? Mine is sticky I LOVE the company and when I travel the thing I miss the most is a dog at my side or at my feet when I'm on the couch however, I see it as a mixed blessing. For example, a dog underfoot in the kitchen, especially when I'm cooking is bad news! So is a dog underfoot on the stairs. I have taught him to wait and to lay down in his place just outside the kitchen door so he can still be close and see the action but be in a much safer place. Also sometimes (when it's 30plus degrees celcius), I don't want his toasty body smothering me so he knows the off command and respects that humans have the right to tell him where to go lay down. Again, we don' isolate him becasue obviously this is a breed that needs human interaction, we just make sure that his stickiness isn't going to put humans or himself in harms way.

| Before Lillie had all her surgery, she was like that. When I sit down now with her, she totally wants my attention! If, lets say, I'm watching telly & My attention is not on her, she "woofs" Not bark, just short little woof!!!! If I am daft enough to ignore that, she stamps her foot!!!! Who could ignore that?? Murphy just followed me everywhere. We nick named him "Move" & "Shift"!!! He had the marvelous habit of standing up when you stepped over him. He was nick named something else then!!!!!!!!!! |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? yup ,mine as well. if she is not physically touching me then she is always within 5 feet. if she passes out and I move when she wakes up she goes tearing through the house until she finds me, then it is all waggy nub and head between my legs. |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? Jiezel is only 4 months and he is the same too, when i watch tv he will lie down and put his head on my foot. Most of the time will follow me everywhere. But sometimes when he sleeps he likes to move away a little bit byt not too far from me.... I must admit i like to have him around... |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? Ranger follows me around everywhere, but he doesn't need the physical contact. He only requires visual contact. He does hop up on the bed in the morning for his morning petting. |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? My one male is content to lay downstairs as I walk about the house...the other two follow me constantly including trips to the bathroom. If I'm outside and they're confined inside, they'll be drapped over the back of the sofa looking out the window at me, or, God forbid I'm out of sight, I'll hear a mournful howl from inside. Bailey is a leaner, head or paw drapped over your hand "pet me" type who will stay pressed against you as long as you let him. Zoe seems content just being in the same room as me...she rarely takes her eyes off of me and (hubby told me) becomes quite anxious if I leave the room. |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? My first rott (Rocky) needed to be constantly near me...and I felt at times it got to be a pain. I think it added to some real separation anxiety at times for him, and I think now I should have worked with him more as a youngster to get him to feel that being and playing by himself wasn't so traumatic. With my 2nd rott (Shane), I'm taking steps to not make that same mistake. More interactive type toys or toys stuffed with treats to keep him occupied, more exercize to help tire him out physically, and more training to occupy him mentally. I like bonding with the dog, but I think the 'velcro' attachments can cause some real issues sometimes.

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? Gunner is always concerned with where I am and what I am doing- and where my fiance is and what he is doing. I dont mind the lean on me when I am standing and when he sits on my feet- I like it. He also likes to sit in my lap ocassionally or up against my side when I invite him to do so. I like him to do this when I am brushing him as it makes it easier for me. What I will not tolerate at all is nudging my hand when I am at the computer or nudging to be petted- that is just bossy and rude! Not cute and endeering. I will give attention on MY terms, not my dogs terms. I like Gunner's balance of indepence and loyalty, I hope I can keep him that way.

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? If Dodge did not already know his name when I got him, I would have called him Shadow, because he is one. If I am sitting still, he would like to be touching if he can, but if I am on the move in the house, he just follows along. If I am cooking he is in the kitchen just watching, if I go to the bathroom he is usually waiting outside the door. Mostly seeing me is enough, if I am in the computer room, which is a walk in closet actually, he will sometimes come in, but it is so small he has to "back out". I will not let him nudge with his nose either, nor lick. I do let him lay his head on my lap if I am on the couch, but usually if I pet for very long, he can't stay sitting and will lay down cuz it feels sooooooo good. I make sure to lay on the floor for a bit each day and invite him to cuddle there. No getting on the furniture, or on the bed. My biggest problem is no matter where I am, he wants me to throw the ball for him. I don't mind for awhile. If I am watching tv, I will toss it for a bit. But when I am on the computer and he keeps coming in and bugging me, (if I don't take the ball, he lays it on my lap) I will tell him "go to your room" which just means go lay down on your doggie bed and settle down for a bit. It is sweet, but man sometimes even I need a little space from him. Every once in a great great while, he needs some too, he will "go to his room" by himself and just chill for a bit. I am so pleased with him. I did much research before I decided to adopt him, and almost all of it is very true. Except the aloof part, he loves everyone. Sharon |

| Re: Is your Rottie as "sticky" as my Rottie? This is one reason we fell in love with the breed. They are "sticky" :) When Kernel died, I told DH never again, we're never again getting another dog, especially not a Rottweiler. I even took my calendar down, but didn't throw it away. He died in January, and a couple weeks after his passing, I told DH "My feet are cold." I knew then it was OK to start the search for a new dog, and I put my calendar back up. Now we have a nice little footwarmer-in-the-making. He's already showing signs of it - I love when he lies down near my feet and looks up at me with those adorable brown puppy eyes. It's like he's saying "If you please let me sleep here instead of in my crate, I promise I will try to be good. Please?" Rottie pups are, IMO, the cutest puppies ever created.
