Re: should I be worried?

My first Rottie, Buddy, had an extreme prey drive. We were at the ranch one day and he took off after an armadillo - caught it - and bit it in half in one bite. And we think a Rottie has a powerful bite - yeah they do. This incident was so fast Buddy had the armadillo before I could even do anything!
Buddy never bit a dog or human in his 10 years.

I chase my cat in the house (or could they be herding him??).
I agree with hubby. We don't like to see it, but they are animals.
Actually she is a bit fast, but I also chalk it up to stupid slow birds lol. She's got a vertical jump to beat all. She can clear my 5ft fence with about 2-3 feet clearance. Needless to say she's not outside unless my DH or I are with her, since I can't afford to put a taller fence in (especially with the house on the market, going to save the money for a taller fence at the new place)

I was going to say the same thing. I know Gunner does not care for dogs in our yard. I do not know how your dog would react, but that is something to consider.

Re: should I be worried?

Speak of the devil, Shelby wounded an opossum last night - it was a pretty big one, we weren't sure what it was since it was dark out so we came back (with shelby on leash) with a flashlight to check it out - sure enough, it was lying there, probably frozen from shock. It wasn't there this morning when i left so i assumed it was just wounded or scared and scampered off. I didn't witness Shelby with it in her mouth but my boyfriend did - she was FREAKING out like she was ready to rip it to shreds, thankfully she was on a leash and couldn't get to it a second time.

[quote=moondog;741514]I'd be more worried about any cuts/scrapes she got than her mistaking another dog for an opossum. Opossum bites are dirty bites, so I hope the thing didn't connect. QUOTE]

We took her to the vet to get checked out and to get a rabies booster to be safe....no bites or scratches on Abby. I think Abby got a hold of the opposum and killed it right away.
