what should I start with for teaching behaviorial items

Well, I just got my first rotti pup. she is 12 weeks old three days ago. Just wondering what I should start teaching her first. Potty control suggestions would also be appricated. I first thing that I bought and noticed is working well is the CHEW toy. When she starts chewing something that I don't want her to I simply say no and replace it with her chew toy.

Go to the Puppy Development section of the forums and read all of the "stickies"...on the upper half of that section.
It will tell you what to be doing with your pup.

At 12 weeks of age your puppy should be building a bond with you...everything should be fun. Teach using treats and praise.
Potty training, and sit, and good manners are where you should start.

If she's chewing due to teething, you might want to buy her a chilly bone. It helps with the redirecting you're doing - something about the cold keeps their attention.

There are so many great threads on this forum that deal with this exact thing.

One piece of advice, start eliminating "no" from your vocabulary. You are on the right track with redirecting and offerering something else that is right for your pup to do. Focus on what you want her to do and praise her when she does it. It's too easy to say no, and eventually "no" ends up meaning nothing at all. Puppies are wonderful, but can they can be exhausting - if you make an effort to tell her what she should be doing you are doing yourself, and your dog, a great service in the long run.
