| too lenient? Chubby last night got up on my bed, (dont know how he managed due to HD..in vetcorner thread.) when i was standing there sorting cloths he had popped his front legs and chest up there but not his back legs and rump till i walked out of the room to put away the towels, when i came back in to the bedroom and saw he was all the way up i gently stroked him in a kinda "are u ok" kinda way and when i knew he was told him to move it off the cloths he growled at me. I ignored him and gently told him again, same thing. I didnt want to push the issue cause i know he is in some pain and dont want to pull on his collar because i know this might pull him the wrong way and hurt him... I didnt jerk away or fuss at him just went to go get hubby and by the time i was returning to the bedroom he met me in the hall way (and i swear he was smiling ) acting as though nothing was amiss??? Not showing any signs of pain either by the way, thank goodness.I was not scared by the way, never have been by either pups, but want to know how to handle it if it ever happens in another place or time...I wont be leaving him unattended in my room any more because i dont want him jumping up on the bed and hurting his self due to his hips... |

| He's shown you that he can be pushy and wants to run the show...and sadly you let him . Don't worry about his hips...if he was too sore to be moved off of the bed he would not have been able to get on the bed. Bed should be a previledge....not his right. Get both of the dogs out of your bed...or you will be seeing more of this. Next time he get's on your bed (which he should not)...and you want to get him off....get a leash on him, or lure him off with a treat....if you think he may bite you. Growls are warnings...he's told you to "get lost"....you backed down, and the next time he may growl and snap at you. Gina

| Re: too lenient? Thanks Gina!! To be honest niether puppie is usally upstairs, once in a while, to keep them away from the bird of my daughters so thank goodness i dont have to worry about breaking a bed habit!! They sleep in their crates. I didnt think about the leash so thanks for turning that light buld on for me .I didnt get it was a mean growl kinda a grumble but long. He is such a sweetie, loving rottie and I wouldnt even think about a bite...but it does come down to he is a dog and they can bite so ill be a little more assertive and use the leash, just in case |
