| Re: Peeing in the house SUPERVISE THE DOG when he is in the house - if you cannot supervise him, CRATE HIM. I doubt he's thinking anything...he does it because he's being ALLOWED TO piss in the house .In all honesty, this is not HIS FAULT unless he has a MEDICAL CONDITION that hinders his ability to hold his urine... If no medical conditions have been diagnosed, you need to step WAY BACK in his freedom in the house and start fresh with POTTY TRAINING... |

I can tell you what he's thinking--he's thinking you're not in charge and he can do as he pleases. Marking in a house is bad manners. By marking in your house he's telling you he doesn't care about you. Rather than being annoyed at your dog for doing something you've made little intelligent effort to change, you should be annoyed at yourself. Quote:
Only training and supervision will improve his insolence and bad manners. |

| Re: Peeing in the house "I'd love to know what he is thinking by doing this" IMO he his thinking -I own this house , I am marking my house and I am going to get the unspayed BITCH pregnant when the time is right-sorry to be so blunt but you and your partner are just not getting it! Please get the female spayed and have the male neutered! |

Please neuter your rottweiler and re-house train him. Consider crate training if you haven't already done so. Crate training will help with his house training. It will also make him feel more secure when you move, since the crate will be like his own personal "bedroom" no matter where you are living. |

| Re: Peeing in the house If he's growling at you then you are most certainly not the pack leader at the moment. This could also be why he's marking. Have you had a period of less attention to him? Perhaps the move has caused insecurity, and the lack of routine may not be providing the security he needs and thus he's needed to 'step up' to be in charge until he feels secure again. |

| Re: Peeing in the house He is definitley marking his territory. Titan used to do it. Everytime someome with a dog walked by the house, or the mailman, etc. He had 24 hour access to the doggie door, it didn't matter. He would go out to pee and then come in and mark the chair. We tried the potty training, crating again. We took him to a pyschologist, tried all kinds of things. We also put him on medication, that helped. But since our Justice passed away 6 months ago, it stopped completely! Have you had his urine tested to make sure he doesn't have some kind of infection going on? |

| Re: Peeing in the house I don't think you should have to close your door. I keep mine open all the time too. When I adopted my boy (he was 3 yrs old at the time and not house-trained), I tethered him to me so he had to stay with me and follow me around as I did chores. I made sure to go outside about every 2 hours (remember he was full grown) and let him loose to pee (while saying 'go pee'). He was trained in two days. I would go with this technique again as it worked on a completely untrained dog in a weekend. I think he's confused about something and this type of confident leadership (making him follow your lead) will straighten out his confusion. The move and his age (kind of a 'dumb' spot for some reason) could both be contributing factors. I would suggest tethering him to you at your mil's too until he proves he can behave appropriately there also. It's really not nice to have to re-train but is a fact of life for many dogs, for many reasons. At least when they're older, they pick it up faster. :) (Oh, I agree that when you yell at him, he's yelling back at you... Or he could think that you're singing together. :D - I would save the yelling for real emergencies... Like... "The house is on fire... GO! GO! GO!" or "STOP" because he's going to knock over a little one or an old person... or something to that effect.) Kind regards, KimG |
