lights in tunnel

I've been a member almost 3 years. it was almost 3 years ago I got Hilda. a few left here would know what a 'piece of work' she was. in many ways she still is, just a handful of attitude, but I adore her.

so tonight I heard her muching something, got up to go see what new item in the looooong progression of things she has "stolen". She has leaves from the silk plant in our bedroom. "Hilda, out" I say. She rolls her eyes and tongues them out of her mouth. they are a little sticky. "good girl" she gets a pat.

so we have reached an agreement. she will find things, she will slyly let me know she has something, BUT! she will now "out" the item 95% of the time. she only gets a cookie if it is something really important to me. (like a recent $50 bill)

and she will not clamp jaws and glaze eyes when told to "out".

Re: lights in tunnel

That is so adorable. My girl also just loves to steal for fun. She does the same cute little look to let us know she made a score. If we ignore her she is so disappointed she will drop whatever it is no matter how great. If I gave her a cookie for a fifty I just know she would be back for a hundred! My boy steals to get the item and keep it. But if I merely raise an eyebrow --- out it comes!

Re: lights in tunnel

Gotta love their persistance! Not like our doggies are starved for attention...lol...but they still occasionally give you that little reminder! My 3yo stole a five dollar bill off my sons nightstand a few months ago. He figured since he gets 10 dollars a week for picking up the doddles, that week was a discount! He refused to look in the leftovers for his money...he did find his red scout shoulder bands that week..easier to see I guess. Our house calls that shy tilt the "dumb puppy look"...since they have matured it is far less frequent! Tina

That line brings back fond memories! The older they get the more we miss the bratty years.
