Constant "Tinkling" and House Training Problem

My baby is Nadja and she's a 6 month old female. She's great - but is slipping backwards in her house training. She is constantly "dribbling" throughout the house. At first it was submissive urination - constantly. That has somewhat ceased, but letting guests into the home still creates a mess at the door or even if she's in her crate.

Additionally, she wants to go outside approximately every 15 minutes. It's a constant peeing session - in or out of the house. She has even urinated in her crate twice recently. Each time was approximately 10 minutes after she's had a trip outside and been placed into the crate. She becomes very upset and begins to whine.

She also defacates in the home. Not always - but about once or twice a week. She seems to go to the door less and less to be let out and seems to be ok with doing this in the home without any warning signs at all. One minute she's bouncing around behind you - the next - she's squatting.

My home smells like a urinal! HELP!

Re: Constant "Tinkling" and House Training Problem

Have you taken her to the vet? That would be my first suggestions as her behavior may be caused by various health coniditons: yeast infection, UTI, incontinence (was she spayed recently?), bladder infection, giardia, other intestinal parasites, bacteria, viruses, etc. to name a few...

If all her tests are clear, go back to square one with potty training. When in house - she's in her crate or leashed. Potty breaks are at regular intervals, regardless of "her schedule". Start at every 30 minutes, then escalate to every hour, etc. High praise (maybe even a treat) for doing it right, no yelling or scolding (a firm "no" if caught in the act) for doing it wrong.

Edited to add: And clean the accident areas with enzyme cleaner ("Nature's Miracle", etc.) to get the smell out.

Re: Constant "Tinkling" and House Training Problem

Rhea's Mom has covered everything I have seen given as advice with this kind of behavior. Usually it is a UTI that needs to be treated by a vet, and a recent spay could also cause this sort of behavior.

Get her into your vet and then talk to a trainer about her and submissive urination. If she has been known to do that then a trainer could help find ways for her to not be afraid and help cure this behavior and make you all much happier to receive company in your home.

It definitely sounds to me like there is a health problem there. Please take her to the vet.
