Some Rotty Q's

Hi there, I have a nearly 9 mo male rotty called kruger. I was just wondering a couple of things,
1) what sort of weight should they be at 9 mo? he currently weighs 37kg which is about 90 pounds, somebody told me that at 9 mo you can basically double that weight and that will be roughly what they weigh when fully mature?? is that correct?
2)What is the most effective way to curb krugz jumping up on people all the time? also digging up the garden?
3) when walking him he is very apprehensive towards other dogs even small ones? actually the smaller they are the more scared he seems to be. they yap away and he will just start backing away and whining is there anything to help stop this and make him a lil more confident and stand up for himself or will that come naturally as he gets older and matures?
4) how much more growing have they got betwwen 9 mo and 3 years?

thanks alot if anyone can provide me with some answers!!

Re: Some Rotty Q's

For answer to #1, definitely will not double in weight from the age of 9 months. I think mine weighed about 85 at 9 months and I don't expect him to get over 110lbs. He is currently 13 months and about 95lbs.

If you can't find all the answers you are looking for with the search. Post each one separately in the appropriate sections. Good luck!

Post Re: Some Rotty Q's

Welcome to the forums.
There is alot of good information here start reading and start learning.

Your pup at 9 months of age and weighing 90 lbs is about the right size. He will start slowing down now and only gain small amounts. Most of his huge growth is done. No...a Rottweiler will not double his weight from 9 months of age...if that were true...he would be 180 lbs. He is a Rottweiler not a Great Dane. It depends on the bloodlines and the weight of his sire and dam....but I would think he will probably be a nice, standard sized male Rottweiler...about 110-120lbs when finished growing.

All of the problems you seem to be having with your dog can be helped by enrolling in obedience classes. This is a MUST for all Rottweilers. The trainer will teach you how to teach the dog, and help you fix bad habits that have started. Continue in formal obedience classes for the next couple of years....life will be so much better for you and your dog.
