| chew chew chew ULA is chewing everything in the yard. When we let her out for her romper room time in the yard she chews everything. Sprinkler system, plants, weight bench, trees, wood everything. We have two Kongs we play without side she loves chase not fetch just chase. Our trainer says to let her chew raw beef knuckles? I have a friend whose rotty plays with tires? Ula also loves to chew on big pieces of PVC pipe. We found this out with one 20-dollar rope toy we bought her. She loves the PVC thing that separates the sides of the rope. The vet says fine get her big pieces of PVC the really hard joint stuff and let her chew on it. This is our only "problem" at all No guarding nothing. AHHHHHH Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun |

Well it certainly sounds like she's having fun! Since she loves the chase so much, you could easily teach her to bring the kong (or ball, or stick, or hose) back to you, so the game of chase can continue. A flexilead, or a long line can be attached to Ula's collar. Throw the object a short distance, allowing her to chase it down and catch it. Then call her to you while 'reeling' her in, trade the object for a yummy tidbit, and make a silly production of her returning the object to you. Once she's outed the object, rinse and repeat. This will help you both in several ways; It reinforces the recall, and extinguishes the 'chase me' game, or any fascmile of it. It teaches Ula (who loves the chase!) that if she brings the object back to you, she gets to chase it down again...yippeee! It helps your relationship with Ula, because you're teaching her that things are most fun when you are involved with them. It sets a good foundation for training through play.... just to name a few. Remember to put the toy up while she's still very interested in it, and not too tired... and always leave the game on a good note, the same as you would with any other training; you are establishing clear rules of play this way because it's your toy and it's her priviledge to play with it. ![]() Glad to hear things are going so well for you and Miss Ula.

| Re: chew chew chew HEHEHAHAHAHHHEHE We had a PVC party today in the yard. one of the things we made her is out of BIG pipe joints like would fit on her head. We tied them with moring rope and she tugged it around all day. Her big ole teeth cant even dent those. We played so much her and the bully had to have baths they were all dirty. I am thinking all Dog toys should come from the hardware store?? YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW for PVC Maybe I will get some big rubber trash cans next and let her tug those around? I am gonna get her a few tires to mess with on payday :-) She kills me. |
