| Re: jumping on people at 8 months Put a leash on him when before the excitment begins. When he begins to jump tell him "OFF" and "SIT" and control him with the leash. Make him sit and then once he is calm give him attention. He must be in a sit and be calm before any attention is given to him

| Re: jumping on people at 8 months Denver is 7 months and did this....I tried flat collar....easy walk chest harness...but the only thing that works when he is excited to see people is a prong collar.....suggested by trackermom, it is the best training tool for his jumping.....now he just drops to the ground....most of the time I don't even need to give a correction....I just let him know before he gets wound up and if the prong is on he listens......without it.....well thats another story

Thanks DenverDay, I forgot to mention the "All Powerful" pronged collar. They only thing with that is, it is recommended to have an experienced person show you how to use it properly. Hoochiepoo- Your guy is still very young. Get him into formal obedience training. You'll be able to bond with him and gain more control. He will become more powerful as he ages, it’s a good idea to gain leadership over him now. There are many threads here talking about formal classes. It is well worth the time and money to attend these classes. Ask all the questions you need to. There are so many knowledgeable people here willing to help. And take some time to search the threads; everything you need to read is here.

I should have mentioned having someone show you......I also suggest you try other options first and foremost.....such as formal training and less aggressive collars or harnesses first.
