Destructive Tendencies Of Female

We have two Rottweiller dogs, a male about 10 months old, and a female about 11 months old. The male is very much quieter and gentler in his nature, causing little trouble. The female is different....she tears apart the wooden trellis work, and just seems more on the rough side. Is this normal or something that needs correcting? She is still lovable, but I would like to know how to curb her bad habits.

Everyone is different. Your girl has a higher energy level than your male.

We have a similar situation in our house with our two girls. Our 7 yr old was always on the calm side, even when she was a puppy. Our 2 yr old, on the other hand, is an imp--Tula's into everything, has to know everything that's going on. Tula's my shadow around the house, having to see *everything" I do & be *everywhere* I am. When I get up at 5-ish to get ready for work & feed them, Tula starts frisking around & playing with her toys, carrying around my clothes, nagging our older dog to play with her, just generally being a live wire. Riga, on the other hand, waits patiently.

You'll cure your girl's "bad habits" by training (no surprise here). I'd suggest giving your girl alot of exercise and a job to do.

I know what you are going through! My girl can be and has been very destructive! Best bet is to give her plenty of exercise and a bone or two to get some of that energy out. Lots of quality time with mom seemed to help also.

True obedience training is without question the answer to solving your problems. Obedience will help on a number of levels (mind stiulation just to name one) but most of all it will give you control to stop the chewing etc. Your girl is just on the go type. Training will help settle her down.
