Is biting normal for puppy?

I have a 8 week old puppy. I've had other kinds of dogs before but this is my first Rotty. I've already noticed he's a fast learner! He sits when told and gives me his paw."Smartest kind of dog I've ever owned"
My question is, "is it normal for a 8 week old to bite?" He is stuborn. We are always telling him,"No",but he likes to bite hands, pants, feet, etc. Is he just teething? I'll put a chew toy in front of his face when he bites and works for a while.

Rosco,
"No Bites" was the first good mannor that my boy "Sasha" was tought. He wasn't biting out of malice just his natural way to discover, learn, and communicate (play). It only took him a couple of weeks to learn. When I corrected his behavior with "No Bites" I made sure that I had good eye contact (with my hands GENTLY on the sides of his face looking directly at him)while I grumbled/growled the words "No Bites". My objective was to get his focused attention with this, not cringing fear. (We are talking about an 8 week old pup, not a full grown Rott.) I do use his crate now (he's 3 1/2 mos.) with the "No Bites" correction. I keep him in for about 15 minutes. I've only had to use the crate twice in the last month. I believe it is paramount to be diligent and consistant with the attitude of ZERO tollerance when it comes to biting. I know others in the group have greater experience and would be able to confirm or expand on this method and others. Best of luck Rosco.
Respectfully,
Pike

It is perfectly natural for an 8 week old puppy to bite. It is because his teeth are growing. As you will see, his teeth have not fully grown yet and he needs something to bite. You need to teach him though so he learns not to because when he gets older, and his jaws are stronger and his teeth fully grown, he will be more annoying!!! If you dont teach him good manners and not to bite from an early age, he might even destroy some furniture. My 8 month old dog who was not taught ate his whole house!!! But before training him, you must buy him some toys to chew on because he needs them. If he continues then you must correct him and start training him. Good luck!
