Oscar's pretty funny with his paws too. He holds his bully sticks between both paws (like praying) and picks his toys up with them like other posters have noted. I've never owned a dog who was so agile with his paws, it's pretty funny...like a cat almost. He LOVES pawing, shaking a paw, high fiving etc. ESPECIALLY if he's been corrected or told to knock it off for something he's done. He immediately comes over, sits in front of you and offers both his paws (intermittently) almost like a "I'm sorry Mom!" .
It's too cute!

Jake still has his front dews, but he has such ginormous feet he's still a clutz. Tank is very clever with his feet, and if he could be more so with front dews, that would be a sight to see.
He is very hand-like in his manipulation of toys and bones, and does love to lie on his back and hold things. And very good about retrieving things that get ost under furniture. Jake is catching on....

If they had actual thumbs, they could take over the world.

LOLOL, that's so funny, do you know how many times I've said to Tank when he's intently watching me do something "you can't do that, you don't have thumbs" because I know darn well he WANTS to

Chica still has her front dew claws and definately uses them when holding on to a toy, bone etc.

Well, Nikki does the same thing- and I get the biggest kick out of her laying on her back holding her toys to chew on. It's hilarious.

However, I'm quite miffed that she hasn't learned how to change Hayley's diapers yet. I think she really can and is just playing dumb to get out of it.

Sajan holds his toys with his front paws. He also uses them to catch toys when he already has one in his mouth

Diva is a big paw user. She does a lot of the things listed already, but the funniest is when she pets other dogs (and sometimes humans). She'll stroke their heads with her paw just like she gets pet.

Brock lays on his back and plays with the ball in his paws like the first poster said. He has also figured out how to jump and place his paws at the sliding glass door seam until it opens, so now we have to lock it whenever we put him outside for extended periods.

Toby used to and daughter Abby does lay on their back, hold a ball or toy in their paws, throw it into the air and catch it with their mouth! Abby doesn't do it often but when she is really relaxed and all is quiet around here (HAH!), she will.

What is REALLY funny is when the young Rotties come to Schutzhund training at the beginning. They all want to catch the tug, sleeve or sleeve cover with their feet as it is being swung around!

I've either read or seen a program not too long ago on Dog behavior. This falls into the general, every day dog category rather than a mostly Rottie thing. The part I could not quite believe is (this article or program) they claimed it meant "you are my friend."

Whether it means that or not, I don't know. But I LOVE they way Rottweilers, in particular use their paws (like hands). Yes, the dew claw is an aid as well! Mine opens the latched crate, but only from the outside, and only one latch. Two must boggle her.

Then, she takes a ball inside the crate to bat it around soccer style, and makes lots of noise getting her own rebounds! She tosses and catches with herself as well.

Parker does this too. If you want to give them something to use their paws with, get them a "Tricky Treats" ball. They'll use their mouths and feet to spin, bounce, roll and drop the treats out.

http://www.omegapaw.com/TrickyTreatBall.html

I have pictures of Parker holding a stick above his head while laying on his back, chewing at his leisure....
