Drooling around puppy

I rescued a couple of ~5 week old puppies from the parking lot of a grocery store the other day. The male died that night but the female is doing great. My question is why does Heidi drool so much at the sight of this puppy? I bring little daisy out and Heidi turns into a faucet. I've heard of this happening but does anyone know why?

From what you have discribed, it sounds like she is stressing out. How does she act around other dogs?

She is fine around other dogs. She does seem stressed out though, and acts like she is very concerned, and will sort of wimper and whine.

These are all signs of being a bit stressed. Maybe pup can be taken care of away from your dog and little by little socialize them together.

Plus, at this point, unless you have been to the vet and got the pup totally checked out she may have some illnesses you don't know about that she can transfer to your dog.

When I bring strays in (Even puppies)I have a strict rule, no interaction with my dog until vet checkup. If nothing more the pup most likely will have worms. Plus one died. You do not know what that one died of.

Recently I was letting Akasha play with a friends litter of rottie puppies. She usually LOVES puppies, but about a week before she was with these puppies, a friends 8 week old rottie pup tried to nurse on her. The puppy actually latched on to Akasha, who leaped sideways, up into the air to get away from her

The next time she saw a puppy (which was my friends litter) she immediately started drooling and wanted nothing to do with them. The puppies ran up to her and she got up and moved away, which was very unusual for her. I had my husband walk her away, so she wasn't bothered by them while I played with them She is my demo dog/puppy socializer at the puppy classes I teach and she has never had a problem with any of the puppies, so I was really surprised at her behavior, but didn't try to force them on her.

This weekend at the dog show she saw some of those same puppies that she wanted nothing to do with a couple weeks ago and she had a blast playing with them. She also now plays with my friends puppy that tried to nurse on her. It just took her a little while to get over being molested

Yeah that's good advice. I took her to the vet and had her checked for worms, parvo, scabies (she has scabs all over her little body), and she got a clean bill of health. I am acclimating her slowly. The guest bathroom is her home right now.

She is very curious, but cautious at the same time. Its like she wants to check her out, but she doesn't. She will lay down next to me when i am holding pup and act coy, giving me sideways glances, drooling, and yawning a lot (which is also a sign of stress).
