Re: Help with locking jaws

I would not be trying that method on a dog that might be a little protective of stuff in their mouth...might get ya bitten...

That said - worked like a charm for Ben last night - had his mouth closed tight on a fairly large piece of aluminium foil that was wrapping pizza (and had cheese all over it) - I saw it go in and if I had to go down his throat that thing was comin' out! Called him to me with the rest of the foil in hand (he was about 2 feet away) and put a good gob of spit on his nose...I said 'GIVE!', and before I could open it, his mouth popped open wide as he licked his nose, out came the foil! He got lots of praise!

He LOOOOOVES pizza!!

Re: Help with locking jaws

As I said, this is designed for puppies, however, that being said, ...........What do you think is more likely to get you bitten? Swiping a spit covered finger across the nose of a dog who has his mouth clamped on a treasure or by wrestling, trying to pry the jaws open, folding the lips over the teeth, or, as I watched one guy do, poking a pencil into the mouth? A person forcing the jaws open so they can be used to bite is more risky than the dog opening its own mouth in order to lick off its nose.
