Crazy Treat Dance....?

KAOS, my wonderful 20 month old boy, does this strange thing when he gets a treat.
He will take it in his mouth, and wander off with it. Drops it on the floor, and will do this crazy "dance" near the treat. He will smack it with a paw, move it around with his nose, leap at it, and generally knock the treat about for a while..then eat it.
Is this some kind of long hidden behaviour from their "Wolf Days"?
Does anyone else's Rotts do this?
It is interesting to watch, and I wonder if there is some deeper meaning , or is KAOS just plain strange?

Julius does this with his raw bones outside! He will do many play bows towards it & just leap around like a crazy man!

I call it "bowing to the bone gods." It's pretty darn fun to watch!

Re: Crazy Treat Dance....?

Our Rottweiler Echo, does the same thing. She will throw it in the air, pounce on it, then lay on it. It's quite funny. It's nice to hear someone else does this.....we just thought Echo was the odd one!

It sure is hilarious isn't it?!

Sonny does this all the time especially if it is the "first piece" of something.

How about giving Bella something she has never had before. Like a round piece of fruit or something similar. She may just toss it around (and act silly) until she figures out that she can eat it. It is really funny to watch.

Try a piece of apple or watermelon...something she has never had (preferably round so that it rolls).

No she just takes it to a place so she can drop it and smell it. If it appeals to her she scarfs it - if not she leaves it on the floor for her humans to pick up. She wont even play with a lemon or an orange - but she will eat plastic...go figure

Re: Crazy Treat Dance....?

Echo won't play with oranges either! sometimes she'll push them all into a big pile (we have a tree in the backyard) as if to tell us it's time to pick them up. let a plastic bag get into the backyard, though, and she won't stop barking until we remove it.
