What I also do is place Khori into the crate while I am home. This way he learns its okay to be in the kennel, and learns to be by himself with his chew toys while I am there, and then going away is no big deal. Even with all the dogs in my class after playtime, I put him into the kennel and work with the students and he never throws a fit not being with me.
