whata brat

now Hilda has decided that it is fun to grab my bathing suit while we are swimming. Brat! Ha Ha, at least while swimming I can tell her 'out' and go underwater.

Yesterday we decided that the old shar pei should get a chance to swim. now, shar peis hate water as a rule, but this old guy was sitting on the deck whining all the time we swam. So, dh picked him up and took him in while I held Hilda. Well he sure can swim, it was so funny! his fat little body riding high, tail straight up, legs going a mile a minute. he charged up that deck and jumped out as fast as he could.
Hilda went nuts, but I don't know what she wanted to do.....probably sink him.

Re: whata brat

Shar Pei's DO look unusual when they swim. I think it's the ++fat content!

Re: whata brat

What a visual for the first thing in the morning! LOL Our FB would love to swim but FB's tend to sink like stones when they get in to water. We have to keep a close eye on the little dunce or else he will get in the river and it would be so long Louis! Debbie you have to get some pictures of your OF SP for us to see!

Re: whata brat

I wish I had the camera when we put him in! he did NOT enjoy his dip. but we'll probably crate Hilda and take Goby swimming against his will again. Maybe use treats, he is the king of chow hounds. then I'll take some pics to post!!

Re: whata brat

That's so funny, it must be a trip to see a sharpei swimming away. I can't wait to see pics in picture this!

Debbiej,

Do you always allow your pups to swim? Are they locked inside when you are not home? And do you have a pool liner or tile? Just curious cause we would let Link swim at my parent's house but we are afraid he would try when no one is home (dog doors) and they have a liner so we fear he would tear it. Just curious, Thanks.

Re: whata brat

well, she only swims when we are there. We put barricades on the deck steps so the dogs can't have access to the pool unless we let them. As far as tearing the liner, she has once. She is facinated with the water outlet, and tried to dig it out....
we turn off the filter while she swims now, but just the swimming motion of her claws on the filter doesn't tear the liner. we do keep her away from the sides though.

Re: whata brat

Thanks for the info! I would love to get Link in the pool, maybe we will have to consider it.

Re: whata brat

I meant the swimming motion of her claws when she comes to the side of the pool doesn't tear the liner, not the filter....
