How about smiles?!

Folks were talking about rumbles and growls...does anyone's dog smile?

There is one particular student in my dorm who Cyrus just adores. When Shan gives him tummy scratches he lies there and raises his upper lip and gives her the most contented grin. It is so funny looking!

When I was little we had a female Dobie (VERY aggressive towards all but family) who was attached to my mom...every time my mom came home, up came that lip and she would just grin away. She looked positively scary when she did it!

Neither Akasha nor Keil smile, but their brother Chief does. He looks really cute when he smiles

Re: How about smiles?!

YES! And not only that, but there are different smiles, as well. There's the laying on the floor "contented smile" with the eyes half closed. There's the "huge grin" you get when you come home. And there's the "chuckle/smirk" when they pulled a prank or thing something is funny!

Believe me, my girl is a REAL COMEDIAN! She'll pull the blanket off you when you're sleeping to get your attention, and slink off grinning.

Re: How about smiles?!

Oh, my guys smiles when I get home from work for about 10 minutes untill all the lovin' and scratchin' is over. He leans into me doing the "S" shaped wiggle dance w/ the biggest grin on his face, I look forward to it daily

Re: How about smiles?!

Rocco has his own "smile" but it's not one of those full-tooth grins his sister, Perle has. I got her from the HS at age 4 and the first time she did it I thought, "OMG, she's gonna tear my head off". Both lips go back and there's just ALL THOSE ROTTIE TEETH!! I soon figured out, however, that she was smiling and now I can pretty much get her to do it on command. Her whole body goes into full wiggle-mode before she hits you with it. I just love her!

Re: How about smiles?!

Other than the happy dance and the expressions that go with it, our don't smile much. Iria, if her neck REALLY itches under her collar and you scratch it just right, she will stretch her neck off to one side but somehow manages to push her head back into her neck so all her face skin squishes forward, then stretches her jowls back to show the "oh that feels SO GOOD" grin (no teeth showing).

Re: How about smiles?!

Oh heck yeah! My dogs smile ALL the time. A smile is when the tounge is BEHIND the bottom teeth. If it is over the bottom teeth IMO it is just panting!

Here is a Picture of Harley Smiling

Samson smiles all the time. It's when his ears and eyes are relaxed, nub wagging a mile a minute and doing the happy prance thing. It's so cute and it makes me feel so good when he does it because he has such a good life. He shows ALL of his teeth when he smiles and his tongue is always hanging out too!

Re: How about smiles?!

Hercules has a huge grin right now. He just got done eating a little vanilla ice cream stuffed in his small kong! It's a really, really big grin! Refreshing after a short walk in this warm weather we had today.

I can tell when he's happy, whether laying on the couch together or a special treat he will get a really big grin. It's different then when he is just content.

Re: How about smiles?!

Two of my three past Dalmatians smiled, or as it's known in Dal circles "smarling". Our female would sneeze nonstop when she was doing it. It was utterly adorable.
