What kind of behavior is this???

Alright, so Carl will be 6 in September. Ever since I taught him and Iria to go up and down the basement stairs (open back and open sides - they were afraid of them for a long time), Carl, on his way up, will stop midway and wait for me to catch up with him as I finish the laundry. Then he FARTS!!!! Then he turns his head to grin at me, then continues on his way up the stairs. He does this almost everytime he uses the basement stairs. Start climbing up, wait for Mom to get right behind, then FART, then look back at Mom with that grin, then continue up the stairs. What I find strange is that he always farts in the same place, midway up right next to the water heater. This never happens with any other stairs. Of course I could make him walk behind me . . . then at least I'd be spared the smell.

Re: What kind of behavior is this???

I can't help it, all of this story is funny!
Whenever skuly comes running towards us we always yell, "look out, here comes Carl!" We loved Carl the dog books!
The farting thing....that's just funny too. I have three sons, any ride over 15 minutes long leads to fart contests with them. I'm sorry. I laughed out loud reading your post!

Aw mom! It's all that effort doing stairs! Squeezes the farts right out. And BOY DO IT FEEL GO-O-O-OD!

Re: What kind of behavior is this???

Julius will do this on occasion also. The key is to ALWAYS be the first one up the stairs. ALWAYS!

I think the poor guy runs out of gas halfway up the stairs, and has to muster up a little jet propulsion to power his way to the top, LOL! "Duke, roll that beautiful bean footage!" LOL....

That is funny. It wouldn't be any fun for him if you went first.

Re: What kind of behavior is this???

Every friday Nico makes a point of farting right in my roommate's face while shes on the couch- he seems to think its hilarious. At first i thought it was just a fluke but he does it at the same time every week- its so funny! (as long as its not me)

Re: What kind of behavior is this???

Carl has also learned to belch for attention; dh is a master of the art, and highly praises Carl for any really good ones he can do. Now, thanks to dh, Carl will come up to us, belch (he's learned to do the loud & long ones) and patiently expect a treat of some sort. Dh has not helped matters by making him his own sandwich for a really impressive one.
