Re: House Broke

Anything is possible with training, just be patient and consistent!

Re: House Broke

I agree. It will definately take work and consistency. We have a rescue Cocker who's now about 99% house trained. He still won't ask to go out so we have to remember to give potty breaks instead. We tried the bell on the door thing, but he never "got it."

My friend is working with a 1 yr old Catahula rescue right now. He's doing well and she did resort to a crate.

Re: House Broke

I've had a number of adult dogs who have come to me not housebroken. I treat them just like a pup who doesn't know better. I keep them on lead in the house for constant supervision. Take them out often and praise and give a treat when they eliminate outdoors. I also like to teach a cue, like "hurry up" for them to eliminate on command.

I also find that using a crate when they can't be directly supervised really speeds things up. Clean up any accidents with an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle.
