| Two mornings in a row We've been awakened the last 2 mornings to poop all over the place! Caesar has NEVER done this before and now two nights in a row? There has been no change to his diet or recent routine. Thankfully this morning was mostly on the tile as he was able to break out of his crate but yesterday was all crate and carpet. Is this a vet issue (the stool was quite runny) or a behavioral issue? |

| Re: Two mornings in a row Sounds like something for your vet. Even if there's "nothing new," often there's something. He could have eaten part of a plant, nibbled too much grass, licked something off his feet when he came in. Dogs can get very ill after walking thru goose poo. Because we didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't there. As to anything "behavioral"? If it's a puppy, it may simply not have learned FULLY how to notify you of an emergency. Dogs don't poo out of spite or jelousy or revenge, for instance...even though it seems to all the world that they could. They simply aren't put together that way.

| Re: Two mornings in a row Harley did that when she contracted whipworms and hookworms. A visit to the vet might be in order. Any blood or mucous in the stool?

| Re: Two mornings in a row Our dog Caesar has the same problem every spring when he eats this one type of flower in our yard. It is not a toxic flower, it just makes him a little off. I have tried to dig the thing up but every spring it keeps popping up, it is on our fence line to our neighbour and I think the root is coming from his side. A vet check is always a good idea, I would also watch him in the yard to see what he is up to.

| Re: Two mornings in a row I agree, check in with your vet. Since the stool was runny, most likely he just couldn't hold it anymore, didn't want to do it in his crate, and so let himself out. Hopefully it's just an upset tummy over "nothing."

| Re: Two mornings in a row fully housetrained dogs suffer the tortures of the damned before they'll soil in the house, so i'm guessing your ceasar must have had a really, really bad tummy. worms and other parasites, as well as a host of plants can cause severe runs. regardless of the cause, if you let it go on too long it begins to damage the intestinal lining. it's time for the vet -- NOW! |

| Re: Two mornings in a row Do you use conventional fertilizers on your lawn? Do your neighbors? It is springtime, and that stuff makes dogs ill. Actually, long term it can cause cancer too. Just something not to rule out, most people never think twice about that stuff, but it is quite toxic, especially for our dogs who are always playing, and eating the grass. |
