Contant following around

Hey All

I currently live with my partner(Sylvie) and another roomate in a 4 bedroom house. My girlfriend moved in late sept and spends quite a bit of time with Nero during the day. When i go to do something regardless of what it is Nero follows me around, this is normal to me cause he is my boy, but what is funny is now that Sylvie lives with us he follows her everywhere all the time even if i am sitting downstairs. Sylvie showers and Nero guards her out front of the door, but with my roomate Nero dosent care if he is there or not. Why does he follow Sylvie around so much and not the roomate. I cant figure it out. I feel he is trying to protect her from something? Are there any suggestions as to why he does this?

cheers

Re: Contant following around

How much attention does your GF give Nero? It could simply be that Sylvie has become his new favorite. Harley follows me around constantly if I'm home and ignores my GF unless I'm not there . She gets so jealous but I have more time to spend with her than my GF does so I'm Harleys favorite.

My Harley is the same way, He will follow me EVERYWHERE I go, but he wont follow my husband unless Im not there. I think it is an attention thing. If your roomate doesnt pay as much attention to Nero as your GF does then he is going to follow your GF more then the roomate.

Re: Contant following around

My Winnie will follow me everywhere. She follows me to the bathroom, kitchen, outside and like yours, she will guard the bathroom door when I shower. She won't do that for my fiance. She follows him to the kitchen to see if he is going to give her some food. But my male, Jager, I have to put something up against the door. The lil bugger has already busted down the bathroom door. He thinks its funny to take a shower with mommy. Probally my fault because I first started giving him baths in the tub, and he LOVES his water.

I just think in your case, your dog feels more comfy following you and your GF around more then your roomie.

Re: Contant following around

Hello all

Nero had sylvie as a day time buddy for a good six months while i was working. I am glad that she likes nero cause when i had told her i gotten a Nero she wasnt to happy because of the bad things said about our loveable breed. After a month Sylvie fell in love with Nero and they some what have become inseperable, except when i am home. thanks for the info clears up some confusion of his following.

cheers

Tell her to get used to it.

Julius is my shadow when I'm home & he's Ryan's when Ryan is home. Right now Julius is laying at my feet. I betcha anything when I get up in a minute to go to the kitchen he'll be following after me.

Did I mention that I loooooove Rottweilers??

I was wondering about this..
I thought KAOS had some kind of seperation anxiety..
Whenever I move, it seems he is up and following me..He could be in a dead sleep, but if he hears one step..he is on his feet and interested..
Maybe it is his age ( 11 months), or his fear of missing out on something...
Or maybe it's because he loves me so much!

Well, if you are just sitting, and Silvie is moving around, the chances of something interesting breaking out is much higher. A clever dog recognizes this and will opt for the person who just might, possiblity, break into a game a dog might join in. Always ready is the motto.

Re: Contant following around

LOL..welcome to my world Sleepy...we have lovingly dubbed this behavior as the "rottie shuffle". My dog, Maddox is constantly following me around the house, or herding my 16 month old son. Sometimes it can be very obnoxious when you live in a house the size of a matchbox...lol...we just take Maddox to the river and let him swim till he tires himself out, that makes for a peaceful evening for us two legged folks...

Re: Contant following around

I take Nero for a walk for two hours when i get home from work, i am almost thinking i should walk him for two more hours. It dosent matter how dead tired this dog of mine is, he still finds the energy to get up and follow. I love it i feel protected even goin to the bathroom. I have spoken with Sylvie and basically told her to get use to it. All is working out now.

thanks
