The direction of his pee

Please try not to laugh...I know this may seem like a silly post but I really hope someone can give some advice. When Link goes to the bathroom, sometimes he will pee on his own foot/leg. Is this normal?

I know that it sounds ridiculous but it happens about every other day and then we take him in and wash off his leg. He does a half squat, half leg lift type stance, I don't know if that is part of the problem. Any suggestions??

Re: The direction of his pee

Julius has done this on occasion also. I usually don't worry about it. I just tell him to go take a swim in his kiddie pool.

We have a designated Julius "potty area" in our yard & it is on a slight incline. So when he pees uphill sometimes the pee will run back down & pool around his foot. Lovely, I know.

Re: The direction of his pee

Keil does this also. I am constantly cleaning his front feet, thanks to his bad aim and my daughter wonders why I prefer females

Re: The direction of his pee

HA! My little Pit Bull guy Omen, who was neutered at 5 months, "pees like a girl." He "almost always" pees on his right front paw. I just keep a towel handy...

Re: The direction of his pee

interesting I have alot of trees in my yard so Baron has no trouble peeing on them and if he thinks I'm not looking he pees on my car tires..He saves enough to do more than one,,,but nothing else, Leah has to squat and if she really has to go her feet end up being wet..So I guess it doesn't matter male or female, they are just playing in the yard anyhow.....See we didn't laugh at the little boy......(OR your post)

Re: The direction of his pee

My girl lifts her leg...often! It's sort of a one legged squat, but I believe she's trying to mark the same area some other male marked previously. "Hello, big and handsome! My number is 555-1234."

And no, she does not pee on her feet. Much too ladylike and delicate for that!

Re: The direction of his pee

Both my females do the one legged lift outside, not here on my property but at the park, usually on a tree.

Re: The direction of his pee

We always made fun of my parent's bassett for his squat and now my mom is quick to point out that Link does it too! And she adds that he is such a manly looking dog to pee like that!! Glad to see we are not alone.

Re: The direction of his pee

Up until about a year and a half ago, my male would squat. He could raise his leg by then, but if he saw us watching him, he quickly put that leg down and squatted...like he thought he was still a puppy. But now, that leg is hiked up all over the place..even on me once for telling him no.

Go easy on the boy. I'm guilty of this myself in the woods.

Re: The direction of his pee

Which part? Raising your leg, squatting, or peeing on your foot???

Didn't I already paint you enough of a picture? Some things have to be left to the imagination.

Whew, too much information there, Skip. I'm getting a visual image of this in my head.
