| goood girl tonight we took Hilda with us to a big family get together. none of this side of the family has met her. My nieces had lots of friends over. she was mellow and friendly was toward everyone. when I first got her, she was quite standoffish and I didn't trust her much, so she has really come along. What really warmed my heart was her behavior with my nephew. He is 11 and has seizure disorder. he can't do much. but he smiled and smiled at her. she layed down by him when he was on the floor and was ever so gentle. he can't hold things, but he uses his mouth to play. while he was sitting in his wheelchair, Hilda very carefully took the toy he offered, and they played that way. she sat by his wheelchair for a long time, put her paw on his knee, and was very attentive to him. |

| Re: goood girl Oh, some of them are really in tune to health issues in humans. Not that it still doesn't warrant keeping an eye on them, but many sense and treat more gently. Nakita was a gift from a well meaning friend to my friends son who sustained a crushed pelvis/ legs in a car accident. The idea was Nakita would encourage him to walk and do his therapy. The father of this family is a severe diabetic and a stroke victim. Now your first thought wouldn't be a boisterous young Rottweiler pup. Nakita, however, walks more gently around the son and father. She picks up dropped items. Once, with no training what-so-ever, handed the father his test kit when she saw he was getting up to get it, they tell me. My girl is very gentle around small children. How old is Hilda (cute name) BTW? She sounds like a real treasure! I'm certain your nephew and Hilda will be spending many happy hours together as time passes.

| Re: goood girl She is close to a year now. I've had her about 6 months. I held her leash while she was with him, not knowing how she would behave, but she was so careful. I've heard of dogs being very sensitive to special needs. I was pleased that she was. I am still learning about her. most of the time she surprises me, it's in a good way. What an insightful gift for that young man Nakita was. |

| Re: goood girl This is an example of the intuitive nature of the Rottweiler that you often hear me mention. A good Rottweiler is always up for a good rough game (teen boys are particularly good for this) and can turn around and be most gentle those who for whom it is appropriate. Just one of the reasons I truly love a good Rottweiler! |
