not quite as calm

today was not quite as relaxing as last Sunday. We had company, Hilda LOVES company. she feels sure they love her too. Well, anyway we walked them out to their car, and Hilda came too. since guys were talking, and she wasn't on her lead, I took her back in. She whined at the window, and then decided to join us, just poked the screen and stepped out the window. she thought she was pretty clever, trotting up wiggling. we all laughed, then closed the window a bit to prevent her from doing it again. Later we were napping/reading/lounging and she noticed our other dog had gotten out. she decided to join him by going out the window again. but this time she got stuck, got panicked and struggled with all her strength, popping the whole bottom of the single hung window out of it's place. It hit the floor and the glass broke, and she was SO scared. no harm to her, so we're lucky. But poor girl, she was shaking like a leaf for a few minutes! Bet she dosen't try going out the window again!

Re: not quite as calm

What a lucky girl she is that she didn't get hurt! Hopefully it scared her enough so that she won't try it again It always amazes me the things they find to get into, or in this case out of

I am glad she wasn't hurt and she will likely NOT try that again...although, being a Rottie..she may give it again try from a different angle, but let's hope she decides to use the door instead

Re: not quite as calm

I'm very glad she wasn't hurt. While we can hope she won't do it again, be watchful. I have known a few who DO try something that you'd think would have scared them off permanently. Keep good watch on her. You may have to devise some training system to make sure she won't do it again. It would be tragic if she was injured.

Re: not quite as calm

to my surprise, she was looking out the window this morning, but she didn't try to get out. It is a low window, only about a foot from the floor. Most of the windows in our house have something in front of them and no way for her to get close enough to jump out. but training is in order here. except for bathroom trash, underwear and hubby's tool box, she is pretty good about "leave it".

Re: not quite as calm

That was a close call, glad to hear she didn't get hurt. When Chance was a puppy a baby gate fell on her. To this day she will not go near one.
