| Air humping My 17 mo old neutered male has been air humping at times. He will be walking across the floor and will start humping for no reason. At other times he will be eating and start doing it..he looks as surprised as I do and it seems to be uncontrollable . When I touch his back or speak to him, he will stop. I went back and read all the prior posts containing 'air humping' but don't see anything similar to his actions. What do you guys think, and thanks in advance for your thoughts. |

| Re: Air humping My Sam does that every once in a while. He doesn't do it that often that I'm concerned with the behavior. He's neutered and he's almost 5. I have no clue as to why he does that. I've noticed he does it sometimes when I tell him he's going somewhere or something good is going to happen. Sometimes he does it like you said....just walking around. It's funny to watch I will say that.

| Re: Air humping 3 yr old Jake (neutered) does it also - and we can't help but laugh....we actually considered trimming the belly hairs in that area, thinking they were tickling him....if you know what I mean :D |

| Re: Air humping Quote:
Harley (the female) does it more than Merlin even. But, I think she is confused anyway. :D

| Re: Air humping Unless someone reports in from Canada that this happens here too...it could be a USA thing OR...it's too cold up here to even think about things like that

| Re: Air humping Canadian here with an air humpy dog!! :D He hasn't done it as much lately (he's 20 months now) - but when it does, it's in the mornings. I think it's just one of those adolesant things that happen to males - it's not just for human boys! LOL ;)

| Re: Air humping Maybe it's like air guitar or air drums. Either practicing for the real thing or just a wannabe. Sorry, couldn't resist! :p |

| Re: Air humping Based on what you read here - and the whole dominance issue (related to humping) - I tell Jake that he humps the air because it's the only thing in this house he has COMPLETE control of :) He is dominant over AIR - it makes him happy :)...... |
