Peeing on bed

Diesel is 13 weeks old and has started to pee on Roxy's dog bed. She has 2 beds, one in our room and one in the living room. She doesn't mind Diesel being on them, but if you turn your back for a minute, he's peeing on it! Even when I have taken him out recently.

It's getting a little annoying washing the covers and letting the beds dry out. At least he's not peeing on my bed though!:p

Any idea why he might be doing this? Isn't he too young to be marking?????

Yes, he is too young to be marking territory. Are you sure you are getting all the smell of urine out of the bed? If he can pick up even the slightest hint of it, he may just think it is allright to urinate there.

We are trying!

I can't wash the actual bed I don't think. They have cedar chips in them. I just let them air out and try to rotate. Roxy likes to sleep on her bed at night and during the day. The only reason why we have the second bed is because of the new couch that she's NOT allowed on.

Any other ideas to get the smell out? We have the carpet spray stuff incase he has accidents, would that work?

My wife always uses Clorox to get the odor out. If that odor has gotten into any of the cedar chips, you may want to consider tossing them out and replacing them with new chips. You can buy them from someplace like PetSmart or PetCo.

Nature's Miracle works really well, but I agree that you may have to either replace the chips or just suck it up and buy new beds which are washable.

Rocky never liked his bed in the first place and he peed on it once...when we where still house breaking him. I never did get the smell out (he kept peeing on it too) and he never laid on it so i just threw it out. He doesn't miss it at all...he would rather sleep on the floor and he hates getting on the couch. He can and does sometimes....but he will get down not long after and sleep on the floor....

I had this problem with my male cat before he was old enough to be neutered. I can't remember the name of it, but it was a spray I got from the Vet that really worked in eliminating the odor from the carpet so he didn't pee there anymore. You might try checking with your vet.

I wash my dog beds even with cedar chips in them. The laundromat has front door washers that won't tatter the bed. Wash it, dry it over low heat and air dry utnil completely dry. Yes it wears the bed out sooner, but it does get rid of the urine smell.
