Standing Between Legs

Mercedes will come up to me and stand in between my legs all the time. She wont do it to my SO or anyone else, just me. When she stands there, she doesn't do anything...just stands. Why does she do this?

Also, when I am sitting, she will lay down under my legs. Hmmm...

Jaxom does the same to us...I've always took it as a sign of submissive respect

Yup, respect and they love ya! Out of five dogs we have, we only have one that does it at this time. It's funny because only certain ones will do it all the time while the others never get between the legs!

Brodie does this at times also, it's a little harder now than when we first got him though because he has grown so much.Being that he's 29.5 in. at the shoulders it's almost like straddling a small pony when he does it now:p.

It's very cute! Cooper does this with me...he's a real mama's boy, though.
I never really thought about why, I just thought it was a Rottie thing, like parking their butt on the couch. :D

But... hello Mercedes....

Can't you recognize a "friendly pose" hahahaha

My Ambrosius does that also - but I know that he wants me to cuddle and scratch him.

...so I always do (of course) - and then we both feel good.

You should try it (laughing a lot).

What a relief...

Bella does that all the time. Even when playing w/the other dogs she will come between my legs.

I was really afraid it was a dominace issue, I suppose I thought that because she will challenge me every other month or so a little.

ah, i see i'm not alone.. maverick does this too. i try not to let him do it too much anymore tho, because one time i was wearing a long skirt and was leaving for work when he tried to come between my legs and almost knocked me over!

if i do it, i make sure i initiate it first so that way there aren't any accidents!!:)

Bullwinkle used to love to stand between my legs. My Rotties now will do this a little bit (they like to lean on me more), but not to the extent Bullwinkle did. I always took it to mean that it was just another way of showing how much they love me and looking out for me.

Carl does this to me and my husband. Sometimes it's an in-between and around and in-between and around, etc. If I sit on the couch, when he is not invited to sit on it with me, sometimes he noses himself between my legs and the couch to lay down and makes a very nice leg rest (LOL). Of course, Carl rarely leans with his shoulders. It's normally with his butt (not hips!!! he backs straight up to me and leans with his butt!!!) or he puts his head down and leans gently with the top of his head while getting his neck scratched. Iria leans (normally!!) but doesn't do the stand-in-between legs thing. Her litter-mate brother (my brother's dog) does the in-between thing, only problem is he is so tall he lifted me right off the ground!! I don't let him do that anymore. Kind of hurt when I landed on the floor.
