Just curious, I guess.

Most often, when my dog does something associated with the Rottie stare, it's because she wants something and I'm to figure it out.

For instance: The stare, + a backward bounce, followed by a few steps toward the back door= "I have to go potty." Moving an empty dish around the kitchen= "No water, here. Please refill."
If she brings a toy= "please throw it and I'll fetch, Ok?"

Then, there's the affectionate stuff. The "I love you, mom!" look. The resting of the head in your lap, "I'm content, how about you?"

So what does it mean, if anything, when she presents me with one of her bones? She'll bring it and sort of hand it over. I generally take it and thank her and pat her head. I give it back shortly.

I'm sure these are treasures! Does anyone have a thought? I'm sorry to be taking up someones time for this, but I'm wondering. I mean it's not a problem or anything, obviously.

Jaxom has a funny habit of bringing Chris a toy when he comes through the door. Sometimes it's any random thing handy.:D
I think maybe it's suppose to be a present and the body language thing is her way of letting you know what she needs. Jaxom will walk to the sliding door then look at me and whine when he needs to go out.:D
They are such clowns sometimes.

What a sweetheart she is! :) Maybe she knows you'll keep it safe....:D

One of the things Luna does that I think is so cute is when I'm on the computer, she's laying next to me and it's been awhile......she'll start watching me and when I look at her and start talking to her she flexes the toes on her hind paws. That means, "Is it time for a hug and a kiss now?"

I love how Rotties seem to seriously be trying to communicate.

Bella is not as subtle as your dog SABELLESMOM - Her new fun game is hurling empty kongs at me (message means fill it up slave!). My response is to hurl it in the other room which usually brings on a small whiney fit, which usually results in me leaving the room for a brief time.

It sounds like you have a very sweet girl on your hands.

As young as Guerin is we have noticed he is starting to try and talk to us. Its funny watching him learn new ways to try! Lots of longing stares and frustration that we stupid humans do not get what he is trying to say!
I agree sounds like you have a doll on your hands!

Jazzmine rings the door handle

My Jazzmine when she has to go potty she walks over to the back door and pushes it with her nose. Its a little loose so when she does this it rings. At that time i know she has to go out and go let her out. She learned this all by her self. Before we moved to this house she would go to the door and scratch it to tell me she had to go out. No she rings the door knob.

Oh now, aren't they just too funny? :D I love the time for hugs and kisses, and the Kong refill! And we have at least 3 different ways of letting the humans know about potty breaks.

I'm hoping the bone presentation is a "gift" (meaning how wonderful I am, of course! ) Keeping it safe is OK too. Takes a lot of trust with such a treasure!

Yes, I think Guerin is typical..."...don't you get it yet?" <sigh> "Look deep into my eyes...I am willing you to understand..."

BTW: these are great names you all have. I used to have a Jazzmine (but with a single z). I know another Luna. I've heard about Jaxom and Bella before...(Sable has some, er...less subtle ways too. Bounced her feet off my chest once..."YES!! You got it!")

Thanks guys! I'm really enjoying this "communicartion tale". Any more?
