| New Behavior With the warmer weather and sunnier days Akasha has been wanting to spend more time outside. I can hardly keep her in the house right now, which is fine except for the fact that she is contstantly trying to eat bugs when she is outside. The night before last she spent an 1 1/2 hours outside watching the moths flying around. She caught and ate several of them when they would fly down low enough. I am sure my neighbors think she is a freak, because unless you are next to her you can't see the bugs and it just looks like she is snapping at the air :p My question is, will eating the bugs hurt her? I don't want to let her do something if it might cause her some problems. :( The one good thing about her being so interested in the bugs is that she has forgotten all about the rocks she found so appetizing (sp?) Her rock eating was a constant battle. When we go for walks I always make sure and take something with me that I can give her if I need to stop for any reason. As soon as we stop she immediately starts searching for things to put in her mouth. I am just really glad that the rock eating seems to have calmed down somewhat (I still watch her like a hawk). ;)

| I don't think catching moths will do any harm. My dog catches "buggies" too and none of them have bothered her (moths and flies mostly). I don't let her play with spiders, though! ![]() Eating bugs beats eating rocks big time, but check this link out if you aren't sure if the insects are non-poisonous or not: http://www.pp.okstate.edu/ehs/links/poison.htm :) |
