Puppies and the adult Rott

I met one of the neighbors kids who had is puppy with him, less than 2 months old... (the thing didn't look any bigger than a Yorky)....

Cute brindel type dog and I was telling him about my dogs and training... He asked if he could see mine, and I said sure.

I held the door so only one dog could get their head out at a time... Dante was first, he got a sniff and a pet and then I let Aedia out for a sniff and a pet... I know she has had a litter before but she was pretty excited about sniffing the pup... She was pretty intent on getting her nose as close as possible (damn she's strong)...
More often than not she has issues with other dogs... Did I get lucky that she didn't try anything malicious or was something maternal going on?

In most cases adults realize a puppy is a puppy and no threat.
And some adult dogs adore puppies, although they may not like other adult dogs. Caution is best until you know how your dog is going to react.

I agree with the caution. You just NEVER know.
My hypothesis is that the reason puppies have puppy breath is to let adults know with one sniff that they are babies.

My Rottie girls have helped raise and teach many little fosters and visitors with no problems whatsoever. I trust them. HOWEVER, there was one puppy that Bree would not tolerate AT ALL. I am still mystified by it but had I not had a handle on her the pup could have been hurt, scared to death at the very least.

Lesson: Don't ever presume to know what your dog will do in any given situation.

I'm Sure that they know that they are puppies Johnny is very cautious when dealing with a ouooy, he even holds his legs up the ground so he don't hurt the puppy incase he step on him.
It is very nice watching him doing this, but I never leave him un attended with a puppy :)
