What else does she do that might look wierd? Does she lick her feet? Is her coat dry? Do her ears smell? Does she eat grass?

I ask because my Belle used to lick the floor right before she threw up (she was allergic to her food). Give your vet a call and leave a message with the question. If she's concerned she'll let you know.

licking furniture

My dog when a pup started to lick, then chew the wall paper, so i thought i'd be clever and put a combination of french mustard and cayenne pepper, on the area, and thought, "that'll teach her".
Something went wrong, because where i had put my little combination, she had not only carried on eating the wall-paper but she had also chewed the plaster off the wall, on that very area that i had applied it.
i had also put some on the leg of the table that she had started to nibble, result = great big nibbles.
She liked the taste !!!

StoneCold;

So long as your dog isn't getting sick and she has enough to drink, the licking isn't really anything other than "normal," if there is such a thing with these lovely dogs. I have asked my vet, as my 7 month old does the same thing, and he assures me that there is no problem. The only problem I have found is that in some cases, such as couch pillows, and bed sheets, it leads to little "love nibbles" where my male will just nibble at the fabric with his very front teeth. This behavior, once discovered, is quickly distracted with a toy, and he seems to be fine.

Our Razer is going on 3 in a month and he STILL licks everything. When he was a pup we thought it was cute and never tried to curb his habit. Now, we've just learned to put up with it. We consider it a quirkiness of our pup.

:D

Ozzie (~ 3.5 years) will excessively the door, or the patio door when he wants to go out. He will also lick a cabinet door excessively if he wants me to open it (for whatever reason). He doesn't really bark much, so I think this is his way of saying he wants me to open the door.
