Basset hound... Rottie friend?

Hello?
I've posted a similar post on basset hound forums, asking if they think my basset would get along with a rottweiler puppy.
Now I thought I'd post something on a rottweiler forum, asking what you would think..?
To make it short... I have a basset hound.. she is a year old, real playful puppy.. and I think she could use a friend. And I have always loved the rottweiler breed of dog, so I thought maybe I would be able to work something out.
I also have four cats, if that matters..

What are your opinions?? Would a rottweiler(a puppy... about 10 weeks oldish...) make a good friend for my basset?? My basset(her name is Muffin, btw) is fixed..

My first Rottweiler, in 1981, was raised with two Basset sisters. They were only about 3 days apart in age. I've had Rottweilers and Basets ever since. Bassets are playful and usually good natured. You will occasionally get an alpha Basset but not as frequently as with Rottweilers. Bassets were originally bred to hunt in packs so are, by nature, more pack oriented than a lot of other breeds. All of which means they tend to get along well with other dogs.
