Agression

I have 2 rotties - one is nearly 4 and the other is 15 months. The older one is as good as gold - very obedient and loves everyone. Unfortunately the younger one was firstly taken away from his mother at only 5 1/2 weeks (the breeder said he was 7 1/2 and stupidly I did not check the documents until I got home). After this at 16 weeks he developed OCD in his left hock. This took months to be correctly diagnosed and so he was unable to go out for walks or do very much at all. He had a really bad limp. when he finally was sorted at about 8 months and started going out again - he was attacked by another dog in a very vicious manner. He was on the lead at the time. He now acts aggressively to any dog he sees and sometimes can be the same towards people. Please could you offer some advice on how to cure this problem. In the house or in other peoples house he is the sweetest dog you could imagine. Any one can come in the house - dog or human and he just licks them to death but he seems to have real insecurities about being outside.

Kursed,
Go to school, straight to school (read obedience classes) for socialization with dogs and people.

Sorry to hear about your pup. Poor boy needs some extra special care, and classes DO do that. :)

Seriously, that's the best place for a dog that needs socialization, the dog kind and the human kind.

Class

I agree with Leader. Get thee to obedience class. I've had some dog aggressive issues with my dogs at different points in time. Although I think the human oiented agression is a little more serious. A good competent trainer/class will be able to you more than you can help yourself. Trust me ;) They will have experience with just such issues. Its really helping Beau and its made him a lot easier to take places, I wish I'd found a good class earlier. :( It would have saved me a lot of time. (And turkey hot dogs :D )
