Is moving from place to place at night a bad behavior?

As we also have 2 cats in our 1 bdr. apartment, Orso sleeps in one room and the cats in the other. But although he sleeps until 7:30 a.m., he does not stay in one single place all night long, after each about 1hr - 1hr. and 1/2, he moves to another place, than another, then another of the room he is in. All this movement disturbs and also worries us: is it a bad behavior ? It should not be because he is doing this in his sleep, without knowing it. How do your babies do at night, please? If different than Orso, should I do something to "correct" his "behavior?" Thank you.

Mine rotate all over the place. I sleep through it all and am only aware of it because if I get up in the night, the dog that was on the floor beside my bed when I went to sleep is not the same one I find there when I am up nor the same one when I get up in the morning. If this is a bother to you, I guess you could crate the dog, but I think you are questioning a non-problem assuming he is not getting into mischief.

Chyna sleeps in our room, and she goes all over the place. She goes to sleep on her bed next to my side, then I'll find her later in the night on the floor on my husband's side asleep on his pants. :)
She used to sleep under the bed, but now is too big to squeeze under there anymore. :D

Ben comes to bed at the same time I do (we go to bed early to get to sleep before the snore machine hubbby gets there!). He starts on hubbys side of the bed, curled up next to me, then he'll spread out as if trying to make sure hubby sleeps elsewhere. hubby will shove him to the center of the bed without waking anyone up, and in the morning, Ben is right back curled up next to me. Luckily, I get his face in my face...hubby gets the other end!

Now, if hubby wakes me up with snoring, I just go to the guest room. Ben will follow about 5 minutes later . He can't even sleep in a different room than me. He'll come into the room with this sleepy look in his eyes like "Mom...Dad woke me up with his snoring too, can I sleep in here?!" Ben snores too, but not like his 'Dad'!

So, to answer your question, yes, the dogs do move around alot in the night. Maybe he gets too warm in that spot...our dogs will move around alot more in the summer...preferring to sleep on the floor instead of the beds (or on the couch in front of the AC vents!).

Buddy goes to bed at the same time every night. No matter where in the house we are at 11 pm, he goes upstairs lays down next to our bed and there he stays put until it's walk time in the morning. The only time he gets up during the night is if he's investigating a noise!

No, it does not bother me

Your answers are so reassuring :p , thank you, Judi W, Anne, myrottie-chyna. Orso's moving around does not bother me. Rather the moaning of Tootsie (my 8 yrs old female cat) which does not cease all night long. Except for when I let her sleep in my arms (which happens when she refrains herself from pushing her legs against me intermittently, waking me up).

Snooze, you must be so happy!

Makita will start out on her blanket at the bottom of the end of our bed on the floor, when we go to bed, stay there for awhile, but usually ends up on her couch in the living room, I think its because she can hear everything there (newpapers hitting the front step, cars coming and going), and no doubt lets us know when something doesn't sound right.

Cromwell starts out at the side of my bed or on the threshold of my room. During the night he will go upstairs to my daughter 's room and stay on the landing, then come down stairs and wander to the living room or whatever. In the morning he could be anywhere. His wandering does not bother me - I feel he is partrolling to make sure all is safe and secure. The beagle (Daisy) on the other hand, gets on my bed and she is out till the a.m. Then I have to practically kick her out of bed to get her up and out the door for potty etc. The GSD (Neemo) will migrate from my room to the living room to the couch but does not go upstairs. She hadsbad hips and I think the stairs hurt her. The "wandering Rottie" is not unusal or a behavior problem.
