Crying !!! Crying !!!:( My female puppy was taken from her lettermates at 6 weeks. The first week she cried during the night and I or someone went to her for reasurrance. Then at about 3 am she would start to cry and move almost to a howl at which time I would get her and console her, them put her down and she would return to sleep. I KNOW I MADE A MISTAKE and now I don't know to correct it. At least once maby twice I have to get her during the night, reassure her and put her down or let her stay until I get up. If I don't the crying, howling, etc. gets louder and louder until noone can sleep and I give in and get her. I don't like her to cry, and she doesn't quit. WHAT TO DO ? Thanks

Is the breeder close enough to you that you can get a blanket to them to get the momma dogs scent on it? That, along with a ticking clock or a 'sound machine' (makes what they call white noise to drown out noises - I use one and love it!) might help the little one adjust to her new surroundings. Also, invest in a good set of earplugs and ingore her when she starts to carry on. I know you didn't want to hear it...BUT, when she STOPS crying, then take her out of the crate. Don't reward her for crying and making noise by taking her out. Once she stops making a fuss, take her out for a bit and play, go out for potty, then back into the crate she goes. Also, where is the crate kept? She might just be lonely. If youmove the crate into the bedroom so she can see and smell you she might not cause as much of a fuss. Just a few suggestions...good luck!

Thanks for the help..... I have done everything you have suggested. Her crate is in the hall. She can't see me, but she can hear and smell me as i am only 15 feet away. I am going to try the crate in my room, however we are not fully potty trained. This might be a problem, but i am prepared to fence in a small area as i sleep so sound, i may not hear her and i don't want to keep her locked in her crate all night. Thanks again JA
