As for the scanners. The chips processed now will show up s "MICROCHIP IN PLACE" if the scanner is not designed to read that particular brand of microchip.
That's what makes the "Universal Scanners".
When you take your dogs in for their yearly exam; have the vet do a scan with the hospital scanner. Great piece of mind.
