A kiss...a smile and a "See ya later" but never goodbye.

Apollo crossed over the bridge at 11:00 this morning and showed me the heart he has.....as he always did in life.

I did my level best to not be "fluffy"and stay tough for him....and when I was pushing the solution I told him I'd see him again and I love him.

His eyes never left mine (which just killed me) but half way through the injection and right before he layed that big German head down for the last time; he licked my hand and I felt his love like never before. :( :(

I held him for a few minutes (I know that pissed him off because he was NOT a huggy dog...but OH WELL APOLLO.....I did it because I'm the mommy...that's why!) then Michael and I took him to the Veterinary hospital that is handling his cremation.

I was ok until we pulled into the parking lot and saw 6 K9 Units lined up and standing at attention. (6 of the handlers that I train with. Michael told them what was happening today and they said that a working dog deserves a proper send off.)

I know Apollo was as proud as hell. Of course he would have done anything in his power to change my hysterics to laughter; but I think he was looking down saying "Wow."

I hate goodbye. I do my best to not say that word (unless of course I don't care if I ever see the person I'm saying it to again ;) ) soooooo........... SEE YA 'POLLO MAN!!!!!
