Personally, I am against fattening up a dog for the show ring given most conformation dogs I have ever seen here in Canada are what I would call FAT ....
I have added 2 or 3lbs to my bitches to show them, not more. It is what I would consider a weight they can still be active and work in ....
SO, you are probably always going to get that if you keep your dog lean and try to show him. Maybe add a couple of pounds, but not more than you are comfortable with.
