| Switching from Canidae. I've been feeding my little pack of canids Canidae for the longest time; they're on the chicken and rice diet. Since late January/early February, everyone has started scratching/licking/chewing; recently, it is incessant. My GSD & Clyde have hot spots, and the other three are scabby from where they've chewed. Everyone is flea-free, and I don't believe there to be a flea problem in my home (no cats, ferret or humans have problems).
Additionally, Clyde has lost about 5#. His bloodwork is all normal, as is his fecal. His activity level hasn't changed. I dewormed him on the off chance of occult parasitism. My GSD is also going off her food more often than usual. Everyone has good poops and nobody is vomiting.
Does anyone have any experience with Taste of the Wild? Of the grain free foods, it is the least expensive in my area. Also, there are protein sources that my dogs haven't been exposed to. It's very expensive to maintain these beasts (as well as their felid and mustelid cohabitators), but there is a monetary limit I can spend to feed them per month - especially now that (people & dog) food prices are skyrocketing. (My cats' Innova went up $13 in one month!!!!)
Should I try them on Canidae's lamb & rice formula? What would you do? What suggestions do you have for me? Also: home cooking is not an option currently (severe time & space constraints), and raw is 100% out of the question, as DH has no interest whatsoever in it (and I can't say I'm totally game for it either).
