Re: Canidae Question

I am no longer a fan of Canidae, a dog nutritionist mentioned the company is unreliable. You need to trust your dog food company.

I "used" to feed Canidae and as far as the association of feeding Canidae and bloating I personally had no problems with my bloat prone Newf's on this food (one of our Newf's has a lot or torsion in her line) . With my Rottie Athena who has bloated - any foods containing turkey made her bloat so Canidae original was bad for her and caused her to bloat so did Innova. She actually bloated more so on Innova dog food. Taking her off kibble was the best thing I ever did for her. I first switched her to NRG salmon dehydrated and Natures Variety & california natural canned she never bloated on that. On home prepared I have to be careful not to include any cruciferous vegetables as these will cause her to bloat right after the meal...she can eat raw turkey but she cannot tolerate turkey in kibble. There are so many factors that can cause a dog to bloat including stress that's why you cannot just conclude that a certain food will cause a dog to bloat.

Being on home prepared I can control what my dogs eat. I have seen a huge improvement in my dogs health since taking them off kibble. If I had to feed kibble I would feed one of the Natura lines of food and I would make it half kibble half canned.

As far as feeding for a 4 month old puppy I would feed the recommended amount and split between 3 meals a day. Judge if the pup is getting to much by the look of the stool, sloppy and the pup may be getting too much.
