My Josh is 16 months and I give him Cosequin DS as a preventative. They come in chewables so they are like treats for him. You can buy them on ebay at a great price.
He is show quality with all the clearances and certifications, etc... both parents are champion show dogs too... but like you I wanted to prevent any future problems.
