Re: My dog killed another dog that ended up in my fenced in back yard (TX) Need legal advice.

You have a post from Nov of 06 stating at that time your dog was 8 months old. Assuming this is the same dog he is now a little over 2. Yet your new baby is 9 months old and your dog is now spending a majority of his time outside. Why?? You should have known that this breed is a breed that needs to spend most of their time inside with their owners. You have let your dog down.

You now have a two year old, poorly socialized, unneutered male, who is left on his own much of the time.

Yet you allowed young children unsupervised to be outside. I don't care what the breed CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED WHEN AROUND DOGS!!!!!!! You are very lucky. This could have been a far worse story than what already happened.

You need to take a good long look at your situation.

#1-Are you willing to put up a 6' fence? If not, are you at least going to ALWAYS be outside when your dogs are out?

#2- Are you going to bring your dogs back into the house and allow them to be part of your family? Remember it's not their fault you chose to have a baby and abandoned them to the backyard.

#3-Are you going to neuter your boy and get a trainer to work on his animal aggression? Spending extra time working with and training him not only in class but at home as well.

#4-Are you going to remember that a dog is still a dog and not allow any unsupervised time between your dogs and children?

If you can not answer yes to these questions, then I truly think you need to reasses the situation you have put yourself in. You will just have another "accident" waiting to happen.

The four things listed above are not all that difficult to accomplish. You have made your child a priority. You need to make your dog a priority too. Please don't let your boy down, he deserves so much better.
