I wasn't thinking it was mold, but maybe you could have an air quality test performed to see if the new carpet or something else in the house releasing toxins in the air. That said, I know of one person that had severe neuro impacts from exposure to mold, but I'm thinking this isn't the case here unless there was a serious mold problem. I hope you get answers soon!
