My last rottie female had seizures both petit and grand mal. Your dog does not appear to be having a grand mal, but the behavior during and after is reminiscent of the petit mals I saw, the upset after is very characteristic of a seizure. I was lucky and our vet made a diagnoses quite soon and treatment was started while diagnostic tests for other potential problems were done. When it happened to us, I too initially thought of poisoning. I am sure you will take the video to your vet. I wanted however to give you some positive thoughts as I know you are quite concerned. Our dog was treated with Mysoline (an anti-convulsant), while we tried to wean her off it after a year the seizures returned and she had to stay on it for the rest of her life, which was 13 years. She continued to be a very active, healthy and happy well behaved dog. The only thing that slowed her down was old age. I hope things go well with your pup. |
